One of the highlights of EGTA’s year is their annual conference. It is held in July in the rolling Derbyshire countryside at a retreat called Morley Hall. Each year different guests are invited to address us on matters concerning teaching. One year our guests may include an eminent author such as Graham Wade. Another year we invite the head of an examing board such as Nigel Scaife to address conference. We frequently break for teas, coffees, cakes and the most wonderful home prepared and cooked meals. These provide opportunities for social interaction and networking. Most evenings we walk across to a beautiful church and listen to a concert put on by a rising star from the Classical Guitar world. Recent recitalists have included Antonis Hatzinikolaou and Jorgen Skogmo.
EGTA tries to keep the costs of conference to members as low as possible. For £120 members can enjoy 3 days of great discussion, concerts, food and board. This is exceptionally good value and it is no surprise that the conference is always quickly booked out.
